Diane Kendal for NARS Cosmetics.
NARS created the look for the Thakoon AW11 runway show.
LEAD ARTIST: Diane Kendal for NARS Cosmetics
TREND: Tribal eyes and muted lips
Nars House of Waris

LEAD ARTIST: James Boehmer, NARS International Makeup Artist
TREND: Lined eyes with a hint of color, complemented by sun-kissed skin
INSPIRATION: “I was inspired by the things that surround me in my everyday life,” said jewelry designer Waris Ahluwahlia. “Some of the scarves have the ‘Waris’ signature print; others have a palm print. But it was really important that they all accommodate a sense of ‘adornment’...just like jewelry.”
LOOK: “The girls are very St. Tropez – bronze and sun-kissed,” said lead artist James Boehmer. “The effect of the liner on their eyes gives them a Charlotte Rampling vibe – it’s done, but it’s not done completely. It’s messy, but in a care-free beautiful way. Some girls have color on their eyes, depending on the scarves they are wearing, and the lips have a tint of color.”

"Channeling the days of Studio 54 with seventies inspired, jewel-toned silhouettes, Halston's Fall 2011 collection makes a bold assertion with color blocks and functional pieces. To compliment this collection, the makeup is understated and focuses on clean, young looking skin. With just a defined brow and sculpted cheekbones, the rest of the face is clean and dewy with just a hint of color on lips."

NARS @ 3.1 PhillipLim

LEAD ARTIST: Lisa Butler for NARS Cosmetics
TREND: Theatrical eyes
DESIGNER INSPIRATION: “I thought about the element of motion – movement and vibrations that occur when you see a really chic girl riding a bicycle,” said designer Phillip Lim. “It’s a sense of class, but it is an athletic elegance in how she carries herself, and how she looks gliding through the air.”
LOOK: “Phillip had an image of a black swan in a green lake as part of his inspiration board – and I wanted to mimic that idea of color surrounding something black - an unexpected element of surprise,” said Lisa Butler for NARS Cosmetics. “The skin is kept clean, with a muted lip and then there are beautiful layers of green and blue on, and around the eyes."

“This season, Rachel’s collection embraced a new kind of glamour for the woman on the go. She is a world traveler, a modern nomad. The makeup flattered the deep, rustic colors of the clothes with dramatic earthy shades like gold, bronze, brown and green on the eyes. The strong look is defined by a contoured cheek, perfect for this pretty powerful woman.”

CND, created an amazing stained glass manicure. To get the look, a layer of gold chrome was painted on the nails, followed by a reverse french with Midnight Sapphire. While the Midnight Sapphire polish was still wet, the stained glass technique was put into action by dropping polish on top of the wet polish, and allowing it to pool. The polishes used to create the stained glass effect were Iced Blue Shimmer, more Midnight Sapphire, and finally, Gold Pearl. Once the polish dries and sets, nails were detailed with 24 k Gold Sparkle Effects.
