Bond No.9 Holiday Collection

At Bond No. 9, we’re bold and daring perfumers—but never more so than at holiday time. That’s when—we admit it!—we throw any hint of caution to the wind and present a limited-edition collection of gifts that are at least as sumptuous as the celebrations themselves—in fact, probably a lot more so. But this year, we’ve gone for a level of sheer, unadulterated radiance that frankly amazes even us. Here is a stunning array of treasures whose lustrousness, whose incandescence will boggle the mind and mesmerize the eye, just as much as our scents excite the senses. And for our keynote eau de parfum this season, the one that most warrants being surrounded by splendor, we’ve chosen the best-selling Scent of Peace—a male/female mélange of black current, lavender, and lily of the valley, which we’ve made available in several sizes and shapes. Of course we’ve included other Bond No. 9 scent favorites, as well. And as always at holiday-time, we offer a generously wide price range. So, the artisanal scents … the optics … the keepsake boxes … the luxury quotient: Bond No. 9 has got it all.

Firstly,  the lashes must be curled, and then powdered with MyMatch Powder. This will take the grease off the eye area and build up on the lashes to thicken them. Pat MyCover Concealer all over eyelids, up to eyebrows, and under bottom eyelashes, again set liberally with powder.

With High Def Eye Pencil (black for dark hair, brown for fair hair), scribble and press liner in between the upper and lower eyelashes as many times as needed to create desired density. Don’t come too high on the lid, just very focused and layered also covering the base of the lashes themselves.

The upper and outer corner of the socket should then be marked off with High Def Pencil in Brown. With your little finger blend Blingtone in Spicey over the pencil keeping it in the socket. Above the socket blend Blingtone in Morococo up to the brows. To finally pop the eye, liberally apply Blingtone in Gilt-y over the centre of the eyelid.

To strengthen the eyebrows, scribble matte brown eye shadow from Eyetouch Trio in A Whole Latte Love back and forth on the eyebrows. To finish off, push brows in the opposite directions and set with a dot of hairspray on your fingertip, which also makes them glossy.

Using Upload Lashes Mascara, go into the base of the lashes easing inner lashes inwards, the middle lashes upwards, and the outer lashes outwards, using the end of the wand if necessary. Leave the ends fluffy for next seasons look, and as they are drying press lashes up and out with fingertips.

Use MyMix Foundation to lightly work around the outside of the eye area, and over the rest of the face. Then using your ring finger, pat a slightly lighter shade of MyCover Concealer into inner corner and outer edge of eyes, under nostrils, centre of the chin and forehead to flatten out the T-zone. To finish, press a little MyMatch Powder on center of the forehead, outer edge of the nostrils, edge of the lips and the center of the chin.

Using High Def Lip Pencil in Nude for fair coloring or Beige for darker coloring, draw over the edge of your lip line and fill in the whole lip. Then with the matching lipstick in Vintage Pink or Sweet Dreams, fill it in the center of the lips, patting any excess onto the upper outer apple of the cheek.

To add the final gilt-y shine, put a dollop of the One Hit Wonder Lip Gloss in Gilt-y in the centre of the lip and the lid.

Sleek Makeup I Divine PPQ - Me, My Self & Eve Eye Shadow Palette

The makeup made more of a statement with the focus being the loud mouths. International makeup artist Lucia Pica, using MAC, told us the clothing was about "disco granny tweed!" so the makeup offered a contrasting look. The hot red lips were very defined but rounded and had a 3D effect thanks to the layering technique she used. First MAC Cherry lip pencil was applied, then the classic Ruby Woo lipstick, followed by a mixture of glosses on top to lend the look some youthfulness.
Nails weren't neglected. Cool nail artist Sophy Robson came up with "the new French" - a manicure that had dark tips going right down the side of each nail. The three colours sported by the girls were ‘neon orange patent', ‘dark blue patent' and ‘tiger stripes' - all matching the eclectic clothing that was displayed.

Paul Costelloe LFW SS12 Backstage Beauty

Backstage was teaming with fresh faced models (yep, at 8am on a Friday!) being made up by makeup artist Attracta Courtney using Bourjois.

To contrast the neural palette of the clothing collection the makeup was colourful with the focus being teal blue eyelids. It was achieved with the Bourjois Metallise Liner in #54 (drawn on all over the lid) with some of the 03 Powder Eyeshadow blended into in the upper socket. The eyes also had a fine sweep of upper eyeliner and spidery lashes. To get the effect three layers of the Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara were applied.

The rest of the makeup was super simple - the Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation was the base (that'll disguise the hangovers then) with a flush of pink on the apples of the cheeks and the Sweet Kiss Lipstick in Rose on the mouth.
Nails were in keeping with the beautiful tone of the makeup. Manicure maestro Trish Lomax was on hand (literally) giving the girls the long almond-esque ‘stiletto' shape painted with the pastel shade Nice is Nice from Essie's St Tropez collection
The hair at the show was a design Paul would be proud of. Tim Furssedonn with Toni & Guy, inspired by the collections 60s vibe (babydoll dresses a go-go), created a scrolled updo on the models. It was achieved by putting the hair into a high ponytail at the crown which was then set in rollers before being wound around in curls and sewn into place. A LOT of Label.m hairspray was used to keep it in and the Wax Stick to slick back baby hairs.

Fashion Week:LFW: Vivienne Westwood Backstage Beauty SS12

Make Up genius, Alex Box, created the make up for the show, whilst Malcolm Edwards created the hair. This makes for an extremely talented, creative pairing.
During Alex's demos of the looks, people look on in silence, occasionally catching each other's eyes and smiling. This is big make up, make up artists make up, something we can really get our teeth into, which is very exciting. It's colour, layering and technique, individualising the looks slightly for each models face.
It's fun to look at, and fun to do. It's like young girls wearing far too much make up but looking fantastic. Think peacock coloured eyes, with a Tequila Sunrise coloured cheek and you will get some idea of what Alex was trying to create.
If you know MAC colours you will recognise names such as Electric Eel, Bitter and Lime eye shadows, High Def Cyan or Process Magenta Chromaline, Devil, Salsarose or Azalea blusher, Bright Fuchsia or Acid Orange Pigment and the list goes on. It is bright floral colour palette with a softened and highlighted face, which made an effective ethereal contrast between the features of the face and the face itself. The cheeks are heavily contoured and it all just looks gorgeously exciting and over indulgent.
It's busy right from the word go as the hair and make up looks are big, there are always also a lot of press and photographers backstage too which along with the designers team, the models and the hair and make up teams combined make for an awful lot of people. It's too hot and too cramped but people are really being satisfied by the whole package. It's backstage at a Vivienne Westwood show, it's a place a lot of people would love to visit and we all know and appreciate that.
